Simple relaxing beach sculptures

The three cubic metres (around four tonnes ) of sand  awaits compaction.

Once the base has been compacted I added more height using bin forms.

Carving starts.

I was asked to sculpt Poseidon racing through the sea.

The event was the Mackay Airport Beach Horse Races.

Fire lighters were to be used to illumine the sculpture at night.

I chose to create Poseidon

The trident looked more like a fork.

 My sculpture was judged and tied at forth place.

The great thing about this small one is that it could be moved indoors on the platform it was sitting on. 

 

 

 

 

I created one for a school trivia night which has been resting in a classroom for three years!

Carving random shapes and curves are so soothing.
